'''Farm to School''' is a nation-wide movement that bridges the gap between local farms and schools. The program is designed to unite the community, cafeteria, and classroom by increasing access to local food and providing nutrition education to improve children's health, strengthen farms, and cultivate vibrant communities. == DeKalb County Schools == The [[DeKalb County Schools|DeKalb County]] Farm to School Initiative was implemented last year with all schools featuring at least one Georgia-grown produce item each month. For 2011/12, they served * 892 Watermelons * 203 Cases of Gold Apples * 220 cases of Granny Smith Apples. * 271 cases of Sweet Potatoes * 457 cases of Broccoli Crowns * 211 cases of Cabbage * 441 bags of Shredded Carrots * 490 Flats of Strawberries * 424 Cases of Peaches [[Category:DeKalb County Schools]]
