Math Stars is an optional math worksheet for students to complete at home with a parent and hand back in. Math Stars worksheets come home 5 times a semester, so the time commitment is not all that large. [1]
The parent volunteer handles only their child's class. The sheets that are turned in by students are transferred (by other volunteers) to the Math Stars crate next to the cafeteria. Graders pick up the sheets in their class's folder there, once a week or so, and place the stars on the display at that time. The grader then takes the sheets home to correct them, and afterwards returns them to the teacher's mailbox in the office. Students attempt as much of the sheet as they wish, and the grader corrects their answers as needed. (No new sheet is completed if there are errors).. [2]
