Sagamore Hills PTA website

The Sagamore Hills PTA has a website at sagamorehillspta.org to serve the Sagamore Hills Elementary School community. There are other Sagamore websites too. Email the Sagamore Online mailing list to discuss.

It is a Wordpress installation with Dreamhost managed by Vera Kornylak, Dave Barker, and whoever else wants to join in.

Usage

To try and get a sense of how the PTA website is used, one can use the log account. The reports really aren't that good (says Dave)—you need to look at each month to start to paint a picture.

In 2013-02, Dave looked at months 2012-03 - 2013-01 .

• A single user (c-76-97-209-111.hsd1.ga.comcast.net) accounts for about 1/8 of all visits—I'm guessing it's Vera doing updates (and AJAX calling a lot?)
• 1/6 of referrals come from the DeKalb County Schools, 1/8 from Google, and a bunch from internet garbage (?)
• "sagamore hills pta" is the most popular search to find us by far, at about 15 per month, with any variations (e.g. "sagamore pta") far behind
• Other "top" searche topics to find us (4 or more per month): accelerated reader, math fact mountains, and math stars
• Some deleted content remains popular: /?p=: 225, 256, 620; /downloads/: 0708studenthandbook.pdf, ELPCMin11.14.2008.pdf, 2009_revised_PTA_bylaws.pdf
• More popular downloads happen about 30 time a month
• No trend found across months for day of the week activity (Daily Report) (e.g. there's no suggestion people are checking the site on Sunday for Newsletter info)

The long term report, reaching back to 2011-07, isn't specific enough to be useful—it doesn't say what pages were accessed or by whom (most traffic is probably bots).

Link to the newsletter

The most recent (and maybe the one before?) weekly Wildcat Update Newsletter should be linked from the Sagamore PTA homepage. Here's how to find the link (URL).

1. Login to the PTA Constant Contact account
2. Find the Email Details page of the email (newsletter) to link to (in Recent Work, or Email)
3. Under Social Sharing, select the date, hover over the icon under Networks, the resulting tooltip will contain the URL (something like: http://conta.cc/UPZ93d)

Accounts

Several accounts are associated with managing the website.

Wordpress

The Wordpress site has a single user, admin, assigned Dave Barker's email address*, with the password known to both him and Vera Kornylak. Most website work will be done using this account by logging into the site.

* Since passwords may be sent to the account email address, it's not appropriate to use the PTA online group email address.

Log

The log account, is used to view website-access statistics generated by Dreamhost's Analog.

Server

If you need access to the server files, check out the server account.

Database

Wordpress uses a database account.
